Job Summary
Team Breckenridge Sports Club has experienced significant growth in its Big Mountain Competition program and seeks to hire a professional Competition Head Coach to take our program and athletes to the next level. This position is responsible for the strategy, management and administration of the Big Mountain Competition Team, which is composed of approximately 40 athletes. The coach will ensure that they, their coaches, and athletes adhere to our club’s core values: individualized goals over podiums; small group sizes;
respect for others and oneself; lifelong love of skiing and the outdoors; and strong work ethic on and off the slopes. The position is full time during the ski season (October 15-April 15) and part time during the off season.
Responsibilities
The Big Mountain Competition Head Coach will:
Manage training and competition strategy for all part time and full time competition athletes, including:
o Selecting the competitions the team will participate in, with attention to the travel and financial implications of the competitions
o Ensuring athletes have appropriate training in advance of the competitions
o Ensuring appropriate coach staffing, especially when some athletes are at competitions and others are training
o Establish school break “camps”
o Work with Freeride Head Coach to go “back to basics” on ski fundamentals for all athletes, with the goal of increased consistency for our athletes
Manage all Team Snap communication for competition team Hire and manage additional coaches to support the full time and part time programs’ training and competition schedules
Coach athletes 5+ days/week during the ski season

Attend competitions as needed as a coach, including NORAM if TBK sends athletes
Serve as point of contact for current and prospective athletes and families
Serve as point of contact for Big Mountain academic athletes with Snowy Peak, The Peak School and Summit Middle and High Schools, ensuring that training schedules align with school schedules whenever possible
In partnership with Executive Director, assist in recruiting athletes
Establish and manage the coach travel budget
Serve as point of contact for IFSA and Rocky Mountain Freeride
When applicable, assist in the planning and execution of TBK-hosted IFSA events
Plan year round team engagement and training opportunities, such as Mt Hood training, water ramp, and biking
Promote a team culture at all competitions, including partnering with a parent volunteer to coordinate team dinners and team lodging
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience coaching competition-level athletes in Big Mountain skiing
Strong communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong work-ethic, determination and a do-what-it-takes attitude
Ability to pass background check and successfully complete annual SafeSport training
Previous competition experience a plus
Must be able to travel extensively through the Rocky Mountain region during February, March and April
