Financial Needs-Based Scholarship Program Information & Application

2024-2025

Team Breckenridge Sports Club Financial Need Scholarships are awarded to qualifying families to help make participation in snow sports more attainable.  Scholarships can be awarded up to 75% of program fees toward tuition (typical awards range from $500 to $800).

Scholarship funding comes from individual and corporate donations and various team-based fundraising events throughout the season.

General Guidelines and Considerations for Financial Need Scholarships

  • Recommended support need from Student Support Services (SSS), a third-party financial need assessment company
  • Members in good standing with TBK
  • Parent Statement of Need

Team Breckenridge Sports Club (TBK) has teamed with Student Support Services (SSS) by NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) to assess financial needs.  SSS works with over 2,000 schools, organizations, clubs, and camps to provide financial needs assessments.  All documentation is submitted on their secure website.  The TBK Board does not have access to family financial information. SSS calculates an estimated amount your family can contribute toward program expenses at TBK based on your information. SSS is purely a recommendation.  TBK understands that many other circumstances may affect your current situation.  Our funding decision is not based on SSS alone.

Athletes who receive financial needs-based scholarships and their families are expected to be active participants in fundraising/volunteering events for TBK as a way of contributing to the scholarship fund.  Past participation in TBK fundraising efforts will be considered part of the scholarship criteria.

A brief parent statement explaining the need, their past commitment to the club, future commitment to the club, and a specific requested dollar amount is required.

The deadline to apply for scholarships is October 31, 2024. Space fills up quickly, so apply ASAP.

How to Apply

Step 1

Please go to the website(https://sss.secure.force.com/familyportal) and click the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). You will create a username and password to complete the PFS over multiple sessions. This will give you time to gather the required information for the application. Only one PFS is needed per family, regardless of the number of athletes applying. However, in the case of separated or divorced families, each parent must complete the entire process with SSS. All material submitted to SSS will be secure. The Team Breckenridge SSS Code is 204021.

Step 2

Upload all required financial documents to the SSS website. The necessary documents include complete tax returns for the last two years (including all schedules), corporate tax returns for business owners, and W-2s.  Team Breckenridge staff and Board do not ever see this information.

Step 3

Complete the TBK Scholarship application. This carries a heavy weight in decision-making.

Step 4

Make sure Steps 1-3 are completed

Any questions can be directed to SSS Customer Service at (800) 344-8328 or admin@teambrecksportsclub.com.

NOTES

It is the family’s responsibility to make sure that the file is complete. You may verify this by going to the parent portal at http://sss.nais.org.

Families not completing this process with SSS will not be considered for scholarships.

No late submissions will be considered, regardless of personal or technical reasons.

Note:  Partial Applications will not be considered.
